Many of the things that happen in our lives are a matter of timing. Timing in the sense of being in the right place at the right time. Putting yourself in a position to be where you need to be when you need to be there. This has happened for me over the last six months. This amazing opportunity started with a random DM(Direct Message) to Street Cars 101 Magazine on Instagram. That DM has led to multiple phone calls, photo submissions, photo shoots, meeting at Rockingham Drag Strip, becoming an affiliated photographer, and sharing information back and forth between myself and the magazine's owner Randall "Prep" Threatt.
Our mutual love of the Car Culture has grown that relationship exponentially. I have done a lot of shooting and have expanded my roll and have added writing articles and being an editor. Randall and I have also become really good friends as well as being great colleagues. During one of our many phone conversations I was asked if I would be interested in going to the SEMA(Specialty Equipment Marketing Association) event in Las Vegas, Nevada as part of his team. There was no thought needed in answering that question. It was a resounding yes!!! Having been asked to be a part of his team was an honor to me. An honor for which I am very proud. It shows that hard work is noticed. SEMA is the largest automotive event in the world today. Car accessory companies from around the world. Everything that has happened in the time since that phone call has been geared toward getting ready for SEMA.
The complete team has been assembled, media credentials issued, Flight tickets are being purchased, lodgings are waiting for its latest occupants, namely the Street Cars 101 team. We are all preparing ourselves to take full advantage of the amazing opportunity.
I say all of this to say that timing can be everything in getting you to where you want to be in your career. This applies to most any career path, not just photography. For my own personal career as a Photographer, this opportunity is pushing me into the next level and giving me the opportunity to spread my wings. It also allows a larger audience to see my work.
